Notes on the pattern
These instructions are for an adult medium hat but you can easily adjust the pattern to suit any head size.
To adjust the pattern you will make a longer or shorter starting chain and then work more or less rows.
Gauge – 12 rows x 22 stitches = 4″ x4″ in bl yo sl st
You can use a different weight yarn for this pattern. You will just need to adjust your starting chain and row count.
Yarn over slip stitch = yarn over, insert your hook, yarn over, pull through, slip stitch through both loops on the hook.
Instructions
Row 1 – Ch52. Starting in the 3rd ch from the hook, yo sl st in each ch across. Ch2, turn
Row 2 – Row 69 – Bl yo sl st in each st across. Ch2, turn.
You can work more or less rows here if you want a bigger or smaller hat.
Fold your hat in half so that the first row and the last row are aligned.
Insert your hook into the first ch from row 1, insert your hook into the back loop of the first stitch from your final row. Yarn over, pull through, slip stich through. Repeat across until your hat is joined into a tube shape. Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing the top of the hat closed.

Using your darning needle, weave in and out around the top of the hat and then cinch together. Sew back and forth across the opening of the hat to secure.

Attaching the pom pom
If you wish to add a pom pom, sew a button to the inside of the hat using your tail end and your darning needle.

Turn your hat the right way around. Using the elastic tie from the pom pom, pull it through the hat hole and over the button. This will secure your pom pom.
Fold up the brim of the hat, weave in your ends and you’ve finished!
